Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for every Muslim who meets the necessary criteria of wealth.

Zakat Calculation Rules

• Zakat is payable at 2.5% of your total zakatable wealth
• The minimum amount of wealth that makes zakat obligatory (As Per Current Nisab Value) is equivalent to 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver
• Zakat is due after one lunar year (354 days) of owning the wealth above the nisab threshold
• Only include assets that are in your possession for a full lunar year

What is Included in Zakat?

• Cash in hand and bank accounts
• Gold and silver (jewelry, coins, bars)
• Investments (stocks, bonds, mutual funds)
• Business inventory and assets
• Rental properties (not primary residence)
• Accounts receivable

What is Excluded from Zakat?

• Primary residence and personal vehicles
• Household items and personal belongings
• Debts payable to others
• Assets used for religious purposes
